FORMER York City Knights star Greg Minikin will join Betfred Super League giants Warrington Wolves on a two-year deal from the 2022 season.

Minikin has been an impressive part of Hull Kingston Rovers' transformation to play-off contenders this season, with the Robins, who currently sit seventh, looking set for a vast improvement on consecutive 11th-placed finishes.

The centre has scored four tries and assisted two more in 12 appearances for Hull KR this year and his form has earned him a move to Warrington, who are third at present.

Knaresborough-born Minikin is a graduate of the Knights scholarship system and joined Castleford Tigers after three seasons with York, where he scored 20 tries in 39 matches. Last year York fans voted him into the club's all-time 13.

On his move, Minikin told the Warrington club website: “I’m massively excited to be making the move next season.

"Warrington’s a big club and when they showed interest I jumped at the opportunity.

“I worked under Powelly [Daryl Powell] for four years at Cas and he gave me the opportunity to play Super League and developed my game a lot so I’m excited to work under him again.

“It’s always been fun to play away at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

"It’s a fantastic ground with great facilities and it’ll be nice to be on the good side of the Warrington fans next year.

“I’m really excited to get over there and rip in.”

Warrington CEO Karl Fitzpatrick added: “We’re excited to be welcoming Greg to the club for next season. He’ll add a lot of value and experience around the squad.

"He’s a versatile player who can play a number of key positions and will strengthen Daryl’s options for next season.

“He certainly knows his way to the try-line and we’re looking forward to seeing him represent the Wire next year onwards.”
