YORK City Knights will fulfill their away Betfred Championship fixture against Sheffield Eagles, head coach James Ford has confirmed.

York were set for a visit to Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium in early August but the fixture was postponed due to multiple coronavirus cases in the Sheffield camp.

With the season set to end on September 19 and neither side in play-off contention, it seemed unlikely that the fixture would be played.

However Ford has confirmed that the match will take place and that formal confirmation from both clubs was forthcoming.

“Mark Aston will be delighted because we are going to play the game,” said Ford.

“There is a date that I’ve been sent and I’m sure the club will make an announcement when appropriate.

“I’m under the impression that we are going to play the game.”
