FORMER York City midfielder Charlie Jebson-King has joined Yorkshire Amateur AFC ahead of the start of the new season.

Jebson-King was one of 13 players not to be offered a new contract by York during the summer, having made his first-team debut for City in the FA Cup in 2019.

He had been at City since the age of 10 and signed a professional deal with the Minstermen in 2019 after progressing through the club’s academy.

Jebson-King, who also spent time on trial with Scarborough Athletic this summer, has now signed for Northern Premier League east outfit Yorkshire Amateur, who play a couple of tiers below the Minstermen.

Ammers manager Craig Ogilive said: “Charlie has got tremendous ability and a great left foot which I’m confident will supply plenty of assists this season.

“He’s great from dead ball situations and I know he’ll fit into how we play superbly well.

“I’ve known Charlie (for) a number of years so I know what I get with him and he’s the type of person we want at the club moving forward.”

Jebson-King tweeted: “Onto a new challenge, time to get my smile back and get firing. Let’s go get that promotion.”
