TADCASTER Albion head into their final pre-season friendly tomorrow hoping to build on Tuesday night's win at higher-tier Scarborough Athletic.
Junayd Cassius-Gill’s 20th-minute strike in the end proved enough for Northern Premier League east division Tad to beat their premier division hosts.
Following an impressive performance at the weekend - when Taddy lost 2-1 to National League North side Spennymoor Town - the Brewers again put together a good showing, this time with the result to match.
After a bright start from the visitors, Cassius-Gill got the opener with a well-taken effort. He cut in from the right and fired with his left low into the corner after great work from Des Amponsah in the build-up, beating two men with a fantastic piece of skill.
Scarborough, managed by former York City star Jonathan Greening, had earlier had a good chance through proven hitman Nathan Cartman well saved by keeper Harrison Davison-Hale.
And just after the break, Taddy's Kieran Burton was shown a straight red card for dangerous play, giving Scarborough the numerical advantage.
But rather than lie down, Taddy took the game by the scruff of the neck and almost added a second through Cassius-Gill in similar circumstances to the goal, just this time, the ball cannoned off an upright.
With around a quarter of an hour to play, Scarborough ramped the pressure up but the Brewers stayed compact to wrap up a dogged win.
Tadcaster's final game of the NPL east division season - which starts on August 14 at home to Sheffield - sees them travel to another premier division side, Ashton United, for a 1pm kick off on Saturday. Adult tickets cost £5 and children £1.
On Wednesday, Pickering Town lost 3-1 at home to Hull City Under-23s.
Summer signing Tom Alngohuro gave the Pikes an early lead but the Tigers fought back through Josh Hinds and a brace from York-born Will Jarvis.
