YORK City Knights have extended Mikey Lewis' loan deal from Hull Kingston Rovers, with the half-back staying at the club on a week-to-week basis.

Lewis had a loan spell at the club earlier in the 2020 season, scoring three tries in four appearances, before returning to the club for the 1895 Cup final against Featherstone Rovers at Wembley Stadium earlier this month.

Having initially been brought in on a two-week deal, Lewis' loan will now be assessed each week by York and his Betfred Super League parent club.

York head coach James Ford expressed his delight at the deal. He said: “We’re very grateful to Hull KR and Tony (Smith, head coach) for allowing us to extend Mikey’s loan.

"He’s inspiring confidence into the players around him with his will to compete and win.

"I’m really enjoying working with him and it’s clear to see his impact on our performances. And he has built a fantastic relationship with Matty Marsh, virtually overnight."

Lewis added: “I’ve really enjoyed my time so far at York and I’m happy to be staying with the club to get more game time.”
