YORK City Knights head coach James Ford has said that he hopes to retain in-form loanee Mikey Lewis.
The Hull Kingston Rovers youngster continued his impressive form with York in the weekend’s 46-10 victory over Swinton Lions.
The return of the half-back, who was on a one-month loan earlier this year, brought some quality to the halves, where the Knights have struggled for consistency this year.
York boss Ford expressed his hope that Lewis will stay with the Betfred Championship club.
“2021 has shown us not to assume anything,” said Ford. “I hope Mikey stays, I like Mikey and I think he likes it here at York.
“He is a Hull KR player and if Hull KR need him, they’ll call on him.
“But until that happens, hopefully he stays with us.”
Lewis limped off in the second half though Ford reported no serious injury concerns.
“Mikey had a tight groin. And we fancied letting Mikey have his own little round of applause,” the head coach laughed.
