YORK City have announced Mark Beck has signed on loan from Harrogate Town and Reon Potts has re-signed after impressing in pre-season.

Beck, 27, joins until January on a loan deal, while 20-year-old Potts will be loaned out to Ossett United along with midfielder Archie Whitfield.

Both will remain on loan with the Northern Premier League east division side until January.

Beck said: “It feels very good to get it over the line and it’s good to be here - I’m looking forward to it. The manager at Harrogate said a couple of weeks ago that he wants me to go out and get some games and almost immediately I knew York were interested.

“It’s obviously a massive club and I was interested straight away. I’ve played in this league before (with Darlington). It was with a good side then and it’s nice to join a good side again now.

“Predominantly I’m target man, I’m six foot five and good in the air but I like to think I’m very good with my feet as well. It’s not just a case of heading everything all the time. I like to link the play up as well – hopefully I’ll get on the end of some crosses in the box.”

Manager Steve Watson added: “He gives us a different dimension to the way we can play. We’ve been in communication a long time with Simon (Weaver, manager) at Harrogate about him.

“We had to be patient and kept off a few other things while we had a chance of this and now it’s finally over the line, we are thrilled about it.

“There are numerous options to do different things now, he is a very good target man, but he is more than that – he is good with his feet, he’s a leader, he’s strong, he attacks the ball in the box.

“We’ve been putting a lot of very good balls in this pre-season and the previous two seasons and probably not got on the end of enough of them. He enhances my options greatly.”

The deals are subject to FA and National League approval.
