CENTURION Rob Cockerill was the star of the show as Stockton & Hopgrove (291-7) dominated proceedings against the winless South Cave & Brantingham (53) to remain third in division one of the Vale Cricket League, writes Graham Purdy.

Opener Cockerill (139) shared century stands with Rich Kerrison (45) and Dan Durkin (32) hitting 23 fours and a couple of sixes in his knock.

Shanaka Fernando (6-15) and Tom Williams (3-0) then made light work of the visitors reply.

Yapham (65-2) are still fourth after a comfortable win at lowly Dunnington (64) with Robyn Childe (8-29) taking centre stage.

Led by Matthew Atkinson (44 not out), Yapham wrapped up the points with few alarms.

Second-placed Kelfield (131-4) also won with overs to spare on their trip to Ovington (130) with Matthew Walker (3-21) among the wickets again.

Captain Craig Moore (41no) then steered the visitors home to keep the pressure on Clifton Alliance who secured maximum points as opponents Melbourne were forced to conceded.

Thixendale (74-5) wobbled slightly in their run chase after dismissing Stamford Bridge (72) cheaply, Will Megginson (4-13) and Simon Ullyott (3-15) having success with the ball.

Another captain’s innings from Jonty Gillingham (40no) saw the home side through.

In division two, Burn (149-1) leapfrogged Ben Johnson (146-9) into second with a strong batting display led by William Edwards (91no) securing victory.

Heworth (45-0) also moved up the table with a demolition of Clifton Alliance (43). Thomas Inkster (3-12) and three run outs contributed to the visitors’ uncharacteristic poor batting display.

Pocklington (229-4) also won comfortably at home to leave Ovington (130) firmly rooted at the bottom of the table.

Ben Malkin (92no) and Lee Dobbins (49) featured in the home side’s innings to which Ovington had no real response.

Thorpe Willoughby (151-7) prevailed in a slow scoring game against Hemingbrough (98). Ed Hutchinson (50no and 2-10) stood out with bat and ball and, alongside Sam Hinch (3-8), wrapped up the visitors’ reply.

In division three, Bolton Percy 4ths (128-8) had a successful trip to Selby (71) with Harry Nicholls (43no) featuring with the bat and Krishnan Parmar (4-12) and Harry Hughes (3-18) with the ball.

Shaun Fell (87no) provided the backbone of the innings for Stamford Bridge (199-4) as they enjoyed the best of the proceedings against visitors Heslington (108). Change bowlers James Docwra (6-20) and Ellie Easton (3-23) caused the away side’s demise after a promising start to their reply.
