BEN COCKAYNE has left his coaching role at Hull Kingston Rovers by mutual consent, days after being fined by the Rugby Football League.
Cockayne, who played for York City Knights from 2018 to 2019, including in the run-in to the 2018 League One title win, had served as KR's scholarship head coach since 2019, having previously played for the Robins.
Last week, the 37-year-old was fined £2,00 for repeated breaches of the Rugby Football League's social media, safeguarding and Covid-19 policies.
The RFL found Cockayne to have voiced "controversial views about the virus and related testing and vaccine arrangements," in 2020 and 2021.
The governing body found his views to be "incompatible with his responsibility for the development and welfare of young rugby league players."
