MACKENZIE HEANEY has signed for York City ahead of the coming season after a successful trial period.
A former Newcastle United Under-23 player, Heaney has Scotland U16 and England U17 honours on his CV as well.
After leaving the Magpies in 2018, he signed for local non-league side Newcastle Benfield before moving on to West Auckland Town and Whitby Town, from where he went on a short-term loan to Icelandic side Grindavik.
The in-demand 22-year-old attacking midfielder scored City’s first goal on Saturday at Whitby, curling in a left-footed 19-yard free kick.
He has been on trial at City since the start of July.
