YORK Against Cancer have secured more tickets for next weekend's fundraiser in partnership with the Minster Engineering League at the LNER Community Stadium.

The league is hosting its cup finals on Saturday, June 12 at Monks Cross to support the charity, which is headquartered at the complex.

An initial allocation of 1,000 tickets has already sold out but 200 more have been made available. The charity says even more can be provided to match demand.

The football kicks off at noon with F1 Racing playing a Minster League representative team before Wigginton Grasshoppers play Huntington Rovers at 2pm in the League Senior Cup final and Rufforth United play Pollington at 4.15pm in the Junior Cup final.

Tickets for general sale are available from York Against Cancer and are priced at £7.50. For a further £25, supporters will be able to enjoy a two-course meal of slow-cooked pulled beef cottage pie followed by lemon posset.

Individual tables of up to six are available. Hospitality guests will also have access to the bars and facilities within the hospitality suite while food outlets within the stadium will be open for other supporters.

General manager of York Against Cancer Julie Russell said: "I am delighted that the league is supporting us, and that JMD Group (UK) Ltd who undertook our recent office and shop fitout has agreed to support the event. There is a link between keeping fit and healthy which can reduce chances of getting cancer and this is a message that York Against Cancer is keen to promote.”

Local sports supplier Newitts has provided match balls for the event with Pavers also supporting the charity.
