YORK City Ladies missed out on back-to-back North Riding County FA Ladies Cup trophies after losing 1-0 to Middlesbrough Reserves.
The Minsterbelles, who claimed last year's silverware with a 4-2 win over Redcar Town, this year fell to a single Alicia Mutrie goal for the opposition from Teesside.
City might have got off to an ideal start when they were awarded a penalty in the opening minute but Sophie Tinson's effort was saved.
Shannon Durkin had the ball in the net for York once either side of half-time but both efforts were ruled out.
Instead, Mutrie broke the deadlock just after the sides returned to the field following half-time.
Emily Cattle struck the crossbar with a hooked effort not long after the goal, before both Holly Findlay and Nikki Brown fired over from range.
