OVER 200 athletes competed in the City of York Athletics Club's first event for over 18 months.

The double century of participants, who ranged from the under-11s to seniors, on the track and on the field were well marshalled by a large band of volunteer officials.

The event was organised to provide an introduction to competitive athletics for some of the younger members of the club and also as a warm-up event for some of the older athletes for the coming season’s fixtures.

It also provided an opportunity for officials to dust off their clipboards and stopwatches for the first time since outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
