YORK City Ladies are in the hunt for a second consecutive North Riding County FA Ladies Cup after thumping local rivals York RI 11-3 in the semi-finals.

Abby Parkin bagged four in the win and Sophie Tinson netted a brace, with Nikki Brown, Shannon Durkin, Emily Cattle, Holly Findlay and Emma Hallowell contributing one apiece.

The Minsterbelles will face Middlesbrough Women Reserves in the final. Boro defeated last year's beaten finalists Redcar Town 5-0 in the last four.

York made a strong start against RI and found themselves two up inside five minutes as they romped away to a 5-1 lead at half-time.

Though City ply their trade in the North East Regional Women's League premier division, a tier above southern division RI, technical director of the regional talent club Jill Stacey said before the fixture that York would take nothing for granted.

And so it appeared in the second half. RI pulled two back shortly after the break, one from the penalty spot, before a red card reduced York to 10.

But City were awarded a penalty of their own, put away by Sophie Tinson, before the Minsterbelles found the net five more times in the final 25 minutes.

Parkin's four-goal haul added to the hat-trick she scored in the previous week's 6-0 win over Hartlepool United.
