SUPPORTERS who took to the field for the final match at Bootham Crescent on Saturday have helped to raise £4,000 for charity.
Thirty-two play-on-the-pitch spots were purchased for the 'Reds v Blues' game on the hallowed turf, with the match ending 8-6 in favour of the Blues.
Further money was raised through the special edition programme and donations to the 'virtual turnstile' via the livestream. The match video is still on YouTube and has had more than 3,500 views.
All proceeds will be split between the York Teaching Hospital Charity and the York City Football Club Academy.
The match itself saw Peter Nowak (OG), Curtis Roberts, Chris Tune, James Keller, Toby Joynson and Chris Brooksbank (3) scored for the Blues.
Joe Scargill, James Brown, Xav Edmonds (OG), George Allen and Tom Haugh (2) were on the scoresheet for the Reds.
