A MURAL of York City legend Keith Walwyn has been unveiled at Spark:York 18 years after his passing.

Local artist Keith Hopewell was commissioned for the piece by the enterprise on Piccadilly and is presented proudly within the 'boxpark'.

Second in the club’s all-time scoring list, Walwyn netted 140 goals in 291 games for City between 1981 and 1987.

A debut goal against Tranmere Rovers augured well for his time at City, where his finishing prowess combined with his work-rate made him a firm fan-favourite.

Barring the 1984/85 term, Walwyn topped 20 goals every season he was with the Minstermen, including a 25-goal haul for City's Fourth Division-winning 1983/84 campaign.

Walwyn sadly died aged just 47 on April 15, 2003 after undergoing heart surgery.
