TODAY marks the 18th anniversary of the passing of York City legend Keith Walwyn.

Walwyn made 291 appearances for the Minstermen between 1981 and 1987, scoring 140 goals.

Signed for just £4,000 from Chesterfield, Walwyn picked up City's Clubman of the Year award in both his first and last seasons at Bootham Crescent.

A debut goal against Tranmere Rovers augured well for Walwyn's time at City, where his finishing prowess combined with his work-rate made him a firm fan-favourite.

Barring the 1984/85 term, Walwyn topped 20 goals every season he was with the Minstermen, including a 25-goal haul for City's Fourth Division-winning 1983/84 campaign.

Walwyn sadly died aged just 47 on April 15, 2003 after undergoing heart surgery.
