YORK City have placed their first-team players and staff on furlough.

The decision comes after the 2020/21 National League North season was declared null and void a month ago.

It is the second time in a year the club have been in this position, having placed players and staff on furlough on April 2, 2020 after the 2019/20 campaign was declared null and void.

City's Academy will still run on a full-time basis, the club said, with the U19s scholars still receiving their education in lieu of competitive fixtures.

Office staff are working from home on reduced hours while the club shop at Bootham Crescent will remain open for collection purchases.

The decision to declare the Step 2 season null and void should be formally ratified by the FA Council today.
