A RUGBY union star from Easingwold has signed for Championship side Bedford Blues.

Andre Robson, 20, joins the second-tier side from Yorkshire Academy to provide competition to Mike Rayer’s backs.

He is adept at outside centre or on the wing and possesses plenty of raw pace and power.

Graduating from Durham School and the Yorkshire Carnegie age-grade system, Robson has been hampered by ACL and shoulder injuries but is back fully fit and keen to impress at Goldington Road.

Blues director of rugby Mike Rayer told the club's website: “Andre has been excellent in training so far and is a real project for us.

"He has had a few setbacks in the past, but all the signs are promising so far.

"He is a very athletic lad with a great attitude and a real thirst to learn and grow.”
