A VERY late thunderbolt from Louis Wilson got Haxby Town into the Christmas spirit and secured the points after a ding-dong battle with Malt Shovel in the Fastpack Limited York Sunday Morning League division one.

The sides had been deadlocked at 3-3 when substitute Wilson's long-range strike left the Shovel keeper rooted with only minutes remaining.

Earlier, Dan Clipston (2) and Jean Pierre Grenier had struck for Town with Derry Robson (2) and Lewis Ledger netting for hosts Malt Shovel.

Haxby's 4-3 success moves them up to third place in the table, level on points with Thorpe United who sit above courtesy of a better goal difference.

Thorpe themselves also made the most of league leaders Wigginton Grasshoppers' postponement as they registered a 3-1 triumph at Hambleton to cut the gap at the top to seven points.

Callum Petch, Denton Snowden and Philip Wickham all made the scoresheet for the home side with Craig Allen hitting Hambleton's consolation from the penalty spot.

Atlanta put seven past Hounds without reply.

James Ford collected a hat-trick with Scott Johnson (2), Sean Hunter and James Sellars also scoring.

Wills Bar's clash with Walnut Tree in division two proved to be a game of contrasting halves.

After a dour, goalless first 45, the game sparked into life with goals galore, Walnut Tree eventually running out 4-2 victors.

Marius Bratkowski, Jason McCloud, Joey McCormick and Diego Perdisci bagged the Walnut Tree goals, which sent their team to the summit of the table over the festive period.

Alexandru Costel Gura fired FC Dracula into a half-time lead over K-Town United, but his side had to settle for a point following Mitch Sleight's second-half equaliser.
