STEVE WATSON has drawn a line under speculation surrounding him and the vacant post at Chesterfield, which has been filled by James Rowe.
Rumours circulated last week that the National League Spireites were interested in recruiting Watson's services to fill the post of outgoing manager John Pemberton.
But Watson has said there was no contact and has stated his dedication to York City.
"I've not spoken to Chesterfield," he said. "Obviously I knew the job was available but no contact, no interest.
"To be honest with you, I'm not a big trawler through the internet so the first I heard of it was Dan (York City media officer) putting the question to me.
"I've brought 15 players here. The club's a huge draw but they came here to play for me too.
"I've got a job to do and I've got one thing on my mind, and that's to get York promoted."
