SELBY Town's league season is hoped to pick up again as soon as possible after December 5.

The Robins' Northern Counties East League has stated their intention to hold their first post-lockdown round of fixtures in the midweek following the end of lockdown.

Provided no other obstacles crop up, Selby - who play at Step 5 - will thus travel to North Ferriby in division one on Tuesday, December 8.

In a letter to leagues at Steps 5 and 6, the FA detailed their intention that leagues plan for a restart on December 5 (the first Saturday after this second national lockdown ends on December 2).

If teams want to hold training sessions before returning to competitive fixtures, the FA will support this, though they aim to have all leagues "back operational" by December 12.

The letter added: "We only have that a reintroduction of the tier system as something 'we know' and (save for local challenges) NLS (the National League System) is able to continue with spectators up to and including Tier 3."
