YORK Hospital Ball’s live event with Richard Brodie has been postponed due to the new coronavirus restrictions.

Former York City striker Brodie was due to be the special guest for York Hospital Ball’s first live event following the success of its series of podcasts with ex-City stars.

Brodie was York’s top goalscorer in the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons, finishing at the top of the goalscoring charts in the Conference Premier in the latter.

He became only the third York player to be the division’s top scorer in the club’s history.

The event, which was close to a sell-out, was due to take place at the Haxby Sports Bar next Sunday but it will now take place next year instead.

A provisional date has been set for Sunday, March 28.

“Unfortunately due to ongoing issues and restrictions we have now been advised to postpone and rearrange our live event with Richard Brodie which was scheduled to take place on Sunday November 8,” said Dan Tait, who founded the York Hospital Ball podcast and conducts the interviews.

“I am sure you will understand that this is beyond our control and although hugely disappointing so close to the event, is the right decision to make.

“Having spoken to Richard and Haxby Sports Bar today we have all agreed that this event will still take place and have agreed on a tentative date of Sunday, March 28, 2021 which we hope will give us a better opportunity to run it.”
