CITY of York Hockey Club Men I picked up their first point of this North Hockey League division one campaign with a 3-3 draw at Newcastle University I.

Starting the game poorly, the seventh-placed visitors were 2-0 down at half-time, but woke up from the long journey in the second half.

The first goal came from captain Charlie Borwell volleying home before Chris Newton drew City level with a goal on his first-team debut following good work with Pete Fitton.

A third goal came from some good play along the baseline from Dan Ellwood, finding Fitton on the back post to score.

But with a few minutes to go, Newcastle broke and scored to rescue a draw.

City of York II enjoyed a 7-0 win over Leeds IV in east division three south, with goals coming from Alex Cockram (2), Zack Pierson (2), Paul Crosnier (2) and Richard Laverick-Brown.

In the same division, City of York III lost 3-1 at Sheffield University Bankers II. Ben Gregory got the visitors' sole goal.

City of York IV thumped Airedale I 5-2 in Yorkshire League division one thanks to strikes from Luke Harbord, Dan Tomkins, Rob Prentice, Ben Foster and Chris Dutton.

City of York V lost 4-1 at home to Barnsley I with George Trowsdale scoring the only goal of the division two encounter.

City of York VI lost 6-0 at Ben Rhydding IV in division three.

Goals from Rufus Words worth and Sam Barrett were not enough to prevent City of York VII losing 3-2 at Scarborough II in division four north.

Also in division four north, City of York VIII lost 1-0 at home to Bingley Bees I.

City of York IX lost 2-0 at Wakefield VII in division five north.

City of York X beat visiting Slazengers VI 2-0 thanks to strikes from Chloe Robinson and Murphy Riddell in Men's Development north division.

Lily Rowntree and Heather MacDonald were both on target for City of York Ladies I in their 2-0 win at Leeds I in North Women's Hockey division one.

City of York Ladies II shared the spoils in n eight-goal thriller at home to Rotherham in east division three south.

Goals from Sarah Rogers (2) and a fine solo effort from City's player-of-the-match Hatty Henebury sent York into the break 3-1 up before the hosts were pegged back to 3-3.

Corinne Wray restored York's lead but Rotherham found another equaliser.

City of York Ladies III saw off visiting Leeds Adel III 2-1 in Yorkshire Women's League division one thanks to finishes from Lucy Tate and Jo Perryman.

City of York IV suffered a 3-0 defeat at Pickering I in division three.

City of York V lost 2-1 at home to Airedale II in division five north, Abigail Lowson with the goal.

Acomb Hockey Club Ladies had a superb day at Bingley Bees in Yorkshire Women's League division two - and lead the pack after a huge 10-0 win.

The whole squad played their part in the victory but owed the result to goals from Vicki Wrigley (4), Kiera Woods (2), Alex Wilson (2) and single efforts from Meg Williams and Chloe Williams.

This weekend, they host second-placed Spen Valley.

Acomb Men I claimed their first win of this Yorkshire League division one season with a 4-1 home victory over Bradford II.

The Tangerines were quickly into their stride and went one up after five minutes through a neat touch by James Tindall.

They continued to press their advantage in the main through many penalty corners but were unable to finish with the visiting keeper being regularly active.

But within two minutes of the restart, good work from John Forecast and Tindall found Tom Brown, who netted from close range.

The Tangerines' lead was halved four minutes later when Bradford pulled a goal back at a penalty corner. They followed this up with some good passing play.

Acomb continued to have the majority of the better play but did not seal the points until the final 10 minutes, when Pete Skitmore scored from a penalty stroke after a visiting player prevent a goal-bound effort with his body.

Skitmore scored his second from a penalty corner flick high into the roof with two minutes remaining.

Acomb II fell to a 1-0 defeat to Leeds Adel V in division four north.

Bob Unsworth and Phill Monk held the visitors' attack at bay in a goalless first half.

Acomb's attack of Matthew Beresford, Antony Daley, Pete Hilton and Andy Craig-Smith failed to find the target in a close encounter.
