FORMER York City Knights loanee Jimmy Keinhorst has tested positive for coronavirus.

Keinhorst was already isolating from his Hull Kingston Rovers team-mates due to track and trace.

Speaking ahead of their Betfred Super League game against Castleford Tigers, Hull KR head coach Tony Smith said: “Jimmy Keinhorst has been confirmed as positive for Covid.”

“He found out only a couple of days ago.

"He was isolating prior to that because he had come into contact with somebody who was in contact with somebody who had a positive test.

“He was doing the 14 days and during those 14 days he developed the symptoms.

“The great thing was – from the squad’s point of view – that he didn’t have any contact with anybody during that time.

“His isolation period ends on Friday. We originally thought it was going to be today. He should be able to come in on Saturday morning.

“He’s our first positive player. We’ve had one positive staff member and now one positive player.”

Having penned a season-long loan at the start of the season, Keinhorst played five times while at the Knights, all of which were starts, scoring two tries.

He returned to his parent club following the cancellation of the Knights' 2020 Betfred Championship season amid the coronavirus pandemic.
