CLUBS across the National League are set to receive £10million from a National Lottery promotional fund.
The funding for the 66 teams at tiers five and six - covering York City’s National League North, the National League and National League South - has been announced by culture secretary Oliver Dowden.
It is reported that clubs are to receive the first instalment in the coming week through the FA.
Fans were originally slated to return to games earlier this month but those plans were put on ice for 'elite' non-league sides following worsening coronavirus conditions. However, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport had assured the league of financial support to allow teams to start the season behind closed doors.
“This £10m fund will provide a bridge to help clubs survive this immediate crisis while we work together on the safe return of fans,” said the culture secretary.
“I’m very grateful to National Lottery players for getting help to these clubs so quickly.”
