CAWOOD dropped their first points of the season in Division Two after being held 1-1 at Wombleton Wanderers, writes Graham Ireton.

Regular marksman Matthew Ward was on target for Cawood who are now two points behind The Beagle and Bubwith White Swan in the race for promotion. The top two teams were not in league action this weekend.

Clifford were behind for much of their game with Civil Service, trailing 2-0 and 3-1 at certain points of the fixture.

However, the home side rallied to take the points with two very late goals sealing a 6-4 victory.

Luke Robinson, Alex Day, Callum Watson and Luke Addison got the visitors’ goals with Tom Taylor (3), Scott Collins, Sam Farthing and Arron Glasby finding the target for Clifford.

Brad Walters (2), Liam Keenaghan and Dave McNichol fired Rufforth United to a 4-2 triumph over Pollington.

Garforth made it four wins from four in Division Three with a 6-3 defeat of Church Fenton. Tommy Hudson gave the visitors an early lead but it didn’t last long as a Joe Davis strike four minutes later brought the match level and paved the way for a host of Garforth goals. Ross Boyle, Matthew Fisher, Joe Boarder and Max Coyle (2) added to the Garforth score with Aiden Rucklidge weighing in with a late brace for Church Fenton.

Walnut Tree made it two wins out of two as goals from Dylan Holmes (2), Mike Whiteley and Danny Cates earned them a 4-3 success at Helperby United. Stan Wood, Daniel Marsden and Harry Maltby replied. Robin Bedford rolled back the years to fire in a hat-trick for Copmanthorpe in a 9-2 victory over Crayke United. Chris Storey (2), Harry Tinker, Michael Brooks, Tom Settle and Bailey Hoare completed Cop’s haul.

Division Four pacesetters South Milford led two-nil at the interval of their game with Bishop Wilton thanks to early efforts from Daniel Middleton and Rory McCrea. Second half goals from Tom Micklethwaite-Charles (2) and Shaun O’Neill wrapped up a 5-0 success. Kellingley Welfare gained a 4-3 win at Howden courtesy of goals from Steve Athorne, Dylan Hutchinson,, Tim Jewitt and James Mitchell. Sam Schofield (2) and Damian McMahon fired in first-half goals for Howden.

Sam Bibby and Daniel Galtry bagged a brace each as Sporting Knavesmire strolled to a 7-2 triumph over LNER Builders. Nathan Kiernan, Declan Dewhurst and Ryan Bartlett completed the scoring for the home side. Alex Wilson (3), George Simpson (2), Thomas Walsh (2), Tom Hasse and Jack Kelly all hit the target as York RI gained a high-scoring 9-5 success at Selby Olympia. Jack Jefferson and Adam Galloway netted for Marton Abbey but their side suffered a 5-2 loss at the hands of Elvington.
