A QUICKFIRE treble of goals saw Leeds Abel III defeat Acomb Men’s I 4-2 in the Yorkshire division one.

The Tangerines were missing several regular first team players and were under pressure from their hosts right from the start.

After 10 minutes in a forage a down the right flank via John Forecast, the Tangerines were rewarded with a penalty corner which was neatly converted by Matt Dickenson.

Skipper Craig Brown made a wonderful leaping save to avoid the hosts equalising but they continued to have good possession despite the Tangerines breaking well.

With five minutes of the first period remaining, Acomb doubled their advantage when a neat touch from Phill Monk left the home keeper flat-footed.

The Tangerine midfield lost a key player to an injury which distorted the formation and, in pouring rain, after 10 minutes the home side struck three times within three minutes. Adel secured all three points with a fourth in the closing period despite being a man down.

Acomb Men’s II were beaten 4-3 by higher-tier Tadcaster, with Jonny Brown, Andrew Craig-Smith and Neil Hutchins scoring for Acomb.

Acomb Ladies’ fixture at Leeds V was unable to be played due to COVID restrictions.
