YORK City Knights have announced that prop-forward Jack Teanby has signed a new one-year deal with the club for the 2021 season.
Teanby joined the Knights ahead of the 2019 campaign from fellow Betfred Championship club Dewsbury Rams, bringing 70 games of second-tier experience with him.
His maiden season with the club saw him make 30 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring four tries, as he helped the team to a memorable third-placed finish in their return to the Betfred Championship.
The 24-year-old Teanby appeared in all six of the Knights competitive games in 2020.
On his retention, Knights head coach James Ford said: “Jack is still young for a front-rower but has consistently played to a good level.
“He has got plenty of drive and determination to continue developing and that’s an ingredient I believe will see him improve in 2021.
“Jack’s main strengths are his intent of carry, work ethic and his willingness to put the team first.
“There will be some stiff competition for a spot in our 17, which I’m confident will facilitate Jack’s development.”
Teanby himself admitted it was an easy choice to stay.
“The lads, the fans and the facilities are top-class and, with the new stadium, it’s going to be even better,” he said.
“Ever since I started with York, my game has vastly improved under Fordy’s coaching.
“ I know the club has so much more to teach me and signing again will only help me improve more.”
The Knights have been aided in their recruitment and retention efforts for the 2021 season by the contributions of the 2020 Knights Patrons and Squadbuilder fund.
Ford paid tribute to their efforts, adding: “I’d like to thank the efforts of our supporters, specifically Squadbuilder and the Knights 2020 Patrons, for their continued commitment and hard work which enables us to plan and build for what will hopefully be another successful season.”
