YORK City Knights are hoping to have announced their full squad for the 2021 season by the end of September.

The Knights have so far announced two re-signings for next year’s squad following the cancellation of the 2020 Betfred Championship season and the club’s decision not to take part in the RFL’s Autumn competition.

Back rower Chris Clarkson and hooker Will Jubb will both staying with head coach James Ford’s side next year, with more announcements set to be forthcoming.

Giving an update on the club’s current position, Knights chairman Jon Flatman said on Thursday: “Recruitment and retention are very positive at this point.

“We’re making considerable progress and we’ve got a clear set of priorities as to where we’ve needed to recruit and where we’ve needed to retain and we’re working that list.

“I would like to think that we’ll be in a position to have announced in full our squad by the end of September.

“And we’ll continue to making announcements into early next week and through the September period.”
