FORMER York City captain Jordan Burrow has joined fellow Vanarama National League North promotion contenders Boston United.

Burrow was one of 13 players to be released by York following their play-off semi-final defeat to Altrincham last month, despite finishing as the club's top goal-scorer with 15 goals.

York signed Burrow from Gateshead prior to the 2018-19 season, with the Sheffield-born target man going on to score 19 times in all competitions in his debut term.

The 27-year-old has returned to Boston where he scored twice in eight league appearances back in the 2011/12 season during a loan spell from parent club Chesterfield.

Boston manager Craig Elliott said: "I am incredibly excited that Jordan will be joining Boston United.

"He is a fantastic leader and in my opinion, a proper old fashioned number nine that we have been lacking over past seasons.

"He has a huge amount of experience and I am thrilled at how keen he was to secure this deal."

Elsewhere, former York City defender Kallum Griffiths has signed for Gateshead.
