YORK City Ladies have revealed their schedule of pre-season friendlies ahead of the new campaign.

York will begin with an away trip to Boro Rangers on Sunday, which is a 2019/20 North Riding County Cup semi-final clash.

Should City get past Rangers, they would then go into the final which will take place on Sunday, August 23.

At the end of the month, York face Farsley Celtic Juniors on Sunday, August 30. The venue for this fixture is to be confirmed.

York then travel to Rotherham United on Sunday, September 6 before rounding off their preparations with a clash against FC United of Manchester. Again, the venue for this game has yet to be confirmed.

Elsewhere, the club have continued to add to their squad following the signing of defender Karli Smith.

York technical director Jill Stacey said: “Karli is a tough tackling defender who can read the game well.

“She is comfortable with the ball at her feet, has good technical ability and is capable of starting an attack from deep. Karli has held both captain and president roles within her university football club and will be another player with strong leadership qualities.”

York have also signed prolific striker Sophie Tinson, who returns to the city having previously featured for the York Regional Talent Club.

City first team coach Stuart Amos said of Tinson, who joins from Harrogate Town: “Sophie has long running links with York having come through the Regional Talent Club.

“She’s a fantastic all round player with a great attitude and a goalscorer. She has scored 49 goals in 41 appearances in the North East Regional Division in the last three seasons.”
