YORK City’s 2020/21 season is set to begin on Saturday, October 3 with an FA Cup second qualifying round to be their first game.
The National League (premier division) will return to league action on the same day.
A number of clubs, including Torquay United and Stockport County, have revealed the news which confirms the date for the league’s regular season restart.
Following a meeting by the National League board on Friday, it was confirmed that 46 games would be played in the National League, as is standard, and that either 42 or 40 games will be scheduled for the North and South divisions. 42 matches is the usual length of the season in the two divisions.
The final league match of the 2020/21 season is planned to take place on Saturday, May 29 before the play-offs in June. These matters remain subject to approval from the FA.
It also expected that supporters will be present from the start of the season although grounds will have to significantly reduce their capacity to meet the required social distancing guidelines.
