YORK City's Jake Wright scored twice for loan club Boston United in their 5-3 victory over Gateshead as the hosts booked their place in Saturday's Vanarama National League North play-off final.

Boston, who finished third in the table after points-per-game, were slight favourites with the bookies heading into the contest at York Street, though it wa sGateshead who were first on the scoresheet.

Midfielder JJ O'Donnell put the visitors in front on 19 minutes but a pair of penalties from Jordan Thewliss saw Boston ahead by the half-time break.

Gateshead levelled the scores with a spot-kick of their own from Alex Nicholson shortly after the restart.

Boston weren't to be denied however as Jay Rollins ensured they reaffirmed their advantage after the hour mark before Wright registered his brace of goals in the space of just nine minutes.

There remained time for Elliot Forbes to pull one back for Gateshead with six minutes to go but it would only prove to be a consolation goal.
