TADCASTER Albion have announced the signing of teenage striker Bailey Thompson from SkyBet League One club Tranmere Rovers.

The six-foot-four-inch forward has been a regular member of the Tranmere first-team squad, though he did not make a first-team appearance for the Merseyside club.

Thompson has previously played for Blackburn Rovers, Bury and Accrington Stanley at a junior level.

He also featured for the Everton academy before penning a two-year scholarship with Tranmere, going on to appear for their under-18s side.

The 19-year-old has previous first-team experience through a loan spell at Toolstation North West Counties League division one south club Cammel Laird 1907 FC.

The Bury-born prospect told the club’s website: “I have really been impressed by Paul Quinn and his vision of the future at this club.

“I am really looking forward to joining the other lads and cannot wait to start playing again.”

Quinn said: “We’ve been speaking to Bailey for a number of weeks and we are delighted, despite him having offers from several other clubs, that he has chosen to join us.

“He is ambitious and hungry and fits with what we are working towards at the club.”

Elsewhere, Selby Town have continued their retention of their 2020/21 squad with the re-signing of two more players.

Myles Lawman and Jamie Phillips have been confirmed as remaining in Christian Fox’s side next term.

Both players are entering their second season with the club, with Phillips hoping to play a more influential part of the team having been out injured for large parts of the 2019/20 campaign and now regaining full fitness.
