YORK City Knights will learn of the outcome to their Betfred Championship season in early July, a statement on the Toulouse Olympique website has said.

According to the French club, the Rugby Football League (RFL) are weighing up two scenarios for the Championship.

The first situation would see the competition resume at the end of August, with each side following on from where they left on and each playing one another once.

This would then end in a four-team play-offs, the winner of which would be promoted to Betfred Super League.

The second scenario would be to declare the 2020 season null and void and return to the field in early 2021.

"A decision is expected in early July at the latest," the statement added.

Super League is reported to be returning to action behind-closed-doors as early as August, though there remains question marks surrounding the financial viability of playing to no fans as well as testing for Covid-19 in both the Championship and League One.
