TADCASTER Albion and Pickering Town could see their 2019/20 campaigns come to an abrupt end with the Northern Premier League in favour of terminating this season immediately.

Fellow Step 3 and 4 competitions Isthmian and Southern Leagues are also in agreement and have informed the FA of their wish. Any decision has to be ratified by the Football Association.

How final placings are determined or whether the season is declared null and void cannot be decided until the National League’s intentions are confirmed, the league reports.

Taddy are in the race for a north/west division play-off spot while Pickering are bottom of the table.

The effects of the coronavirus pandemic - which has currently enforced a suspension of football activity - is likely to be felt keenly by non-league football. A recent survey of NPL member clubs suggesting the financial impact could amount to more than £3.25million.

With help from the FA Alliance committee, the league is lobbying the government, the Premier League and others for additional financial assistance.
