RUGBY Football League chief executive Ralph Rimmer is confident that the sport "stick together" through the Coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday, clubs from the Betfred Championship and League 1, including York City Knight, met in the wake of the governing body and Super League confirming that fixtures have been suspended until at least April 3.

Fears have been raised by many about how clubs will cope without the financial revenue of ticket sales through the period.

Rimmer said: “Everyone is under a degree of stress and I wouldn’t make us different to any other sport or business in this country at this moment in time.

“We are here to hopefully help navigate these clubs through these waters.

“The Government understands our position and our importance to the communities in which we work in and support and we'll find a way through it.

“We’ve demonstrated over the last 125 years that we are a resilient sport, we do stick together in times of trouble and I’ve no doubt that we will now.”
