YORK City have released a statement relating to coronavirus.

Fans are asked to observe advice on handshakes and other interactions with players.

Supporters displaying flu-like symptoms should stay at home.

As it stands, Saturday's National League North game against Altrincham at Bootham Crescent is going ahead as normal and open to supporters.

The statement reads: "As a club, we have been closely monitoring the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak and are aligned with the most recent Government, FA and National League guidance.

"It’s important that the club, players and fans do their bit to help to reduce the risk of the spread of the virus, in a calm and informed way.

"Therefore, we have taken measures to improve hand-washing facilities at Bootham Crescent and ask that fans are mindful of the current situation, in relation to requesting handshakes, autographs and pictures with players.

"With the health of players, fans and staff in mind, we would ask that anyone showing flu-like symptoms please stay at home.

"As and when we receive further information we will share with fans."
