YORK boxers George Davey and Mitchell Barton will make their return to the ring on the undercard to a major world title fight in Glasgow in May.

The pair, both of whom are trained and managed by York boxing legend Henry Wharton, will feature on the same bill as the Josh Taylor's defence of his WBA and IBF world super lightweight titles against unbeaten mandatory challenger Apinun Khongsong at The SSE Hydro on May 2.

The fight will be the third professional bout for super welterweight Davey, pictured, who has won both of his two fights thus far.

For heavyweight Barton, the bout will be the first of his professional career after turning to the paid ranks back in December.

The 21-year-old, who lives in York, will return to Scotland having had a highly successful career in the amateurs.

Barton travelled to three European Championships, one Commonwealth Games and one AIBA World Championships with Scotland, before moving to join Henry's Gym in Acomb.
