THE St Peter's School under-14s hockey team have been ranked fifth in the country after representing the North of England at the Investec Schools Tier National Championships.

The girls travelled to London's Olympic Park for the competition having secured their spot through wins over Sedbergh and Leeds Grammar School.

The Championships featured eight teams from across the country with St Peter’s playing three games throughout the day.

They won 1-0 against Loughborough High School, drew 2–2 with Framlingham and lost 2–0 to overall winners Kingston Grammar School.

The girls from St Peter’s School finished fifth in the country as a result.

Helen Barnard, Head of Girls’ Sport at St Peter’s School, said: "Reaching the finals of the National Hockey Championships and finishing fifth in the country is an absolutely outstanding achievement.

"Our girls have trained incredibly hard and we are very proud of everything they have achieved with their coach, Mrs Brough, who has supported them throughout their journey."
