The Minster city outfit remain seventh in the table following the reversal against the third-placed outfit.

Leeds Adel were the first on the scoresheet. An aerial from defence fell to their centre-forward, who had to slide to get it past the keeper.

Five minutes later they scored again as the ball pinged around York’s 'D'.

The home side started well, but the Acomb midfield of Tindall and Matt Dickenson held strong.

On the odd occasion the home side broke through, the defence of Dave Bell and Stuart Baxter held firm and found frequent out-balls via wide players Simon Theaker and Baz Whitfield. However, possession was at a premium.

The second half started much as first had, Wakefield having most of the ball, and within minutes of the start, they made the breakthrough from a penalty corner.

Acomb stuck to their game plan and continued to soak up pressure.

With 15 minutes remaining, Acomb stole possession and sprang a counter-attack. Tindall fed through to Jamie Robinson, who returned the ball on the full back to Tindall and he swept in.

The hosts continued to push hard and Acomb were indebted to Craig Brown for an acrobatic save off a deflected strike.
