YORK City Academy fell to their first league defeat in nine as they lost 2-0 at Hartlepool United.

The young Minstermen dropped to third in National League Under-19s Alliance, with Guiseley rising above them on goals scored.

For Pools, this was the fourth in a good run of wins. They remain fifth but are now just three points off second spot.

Hartlepool took the lead in the fifth minute from the penalty spot. York keeper Jake Teale, pictured, was the hero in his side's penalties victory over Chesterfield in the NL Academy Cup, and he saved this spot kick first time around. It was ordered to be re-taken and Ben Reay made no mistake.

Ethan Henderson came close to an equaliser three minutes later but saw his shot go wide.

And with 21 minutes gone, Luke Chapman's ball into the box evaded everyone and nestled in the net.

Will Jackson went close for York late on.

York have the chance to get their own back fairly swiftly as they welcome Hartlepool to Wigginton Road next Wednesday afternoon.
