CITY of York Hockey Club Men I remain 11th in North League premier division following a 6-4 home defeat to Harrogate.

Harrogate went into the break two goals up. City pulled one back from a slick penalty corner routine converted by Luke Ramli at the far post.

But the hosts lost a man to a yellow card for a tackle which resulted in a converted penalty stroke, and the visitors stormed into a 6-1 lead.

York then ramped up a gear. Rob Bradley-Consitt finished calmly from the baseline and a crash ball deflection from Tom Anderson in the circle reduced the deficit. On the final whistle, Ramli netted a carbon-copy second from another penalty corner.

City of York II lost 7-2 at Hull in east division three, James Fitton and Zack Pierson the scorers.

City of York Hockey Club Ladies I rose to third in North Women's League division one with a 4-0 win over Stokesley.

After a draw at derby rivals Harrogate last weekend, City were looking to get back on top in their first game of February.

York hit their stride after a goalless first half, winning a second-half penalty stroke in Stokesley’s 'D' which Lily Rowntree slotted in.

That first goal was what York needed and an onslaught of goals followed with Katie Ramli scoring her second goal in as many weeks.

Shortly after, following a great passage of play, the ball was passed to Jess Richardson who took it onto her reverse and beat the keeper to score her first goal for York.

Opener of the scoring, Rowntree also closed it with a superb strike.

Acomb Hockey Club Men II are looking up in Yorkshire League division four north following a 6-3 win over Ben Rhydding V.

After a run of losses since the Christmas break, the Tangerines brought their 'A' game, and consolidated sixth place in the table.

Opening strongly, John Forecast put the home side ahead within five minutes, and doubled his tally shortly after when Dan Hydes found him in the circle.

Ben Rhydding had their chances with a few counter-attacks but were well held off by Acomb’s defence and man-of-the-match Andy Robinson.

Acomb were on top. Neil Hutchins, Anthony Daley and Harry Ellis linked well to get around Rhydding’s defence to find a third before half-time.

The visitors started the second half strongly and pulled one back but Acomb reacted and Forecast grabbed his hat-trick goal.

Harry Ellis broke out a run into the 'D' and slammed a reverse-stick shot into the corner of the net.

Mark Ellis got his first of the season, tussling through the 'D' and slipping the ball inside the post.

Ben Rhydding got another two back as the Tangerines eased off.

Acomb I's home fixture against Rotherham II was conceded by the visitors.

Bottom of Yorkshire Women's League division one, Acomb Ladies put in a tremendous team performance to beat fifth-placed Skipton 2-0.

Hannah Yoward got an early goal after chasing down a through ball and squeezing it past the Skipton keeper.

With Jane Elsworth - returning after a long injury - and Jaz Colley both sweeping up at the back, they were able to set the Tangerines forward with Sam Storr, Becky Flower and Megan Williams linking well. Steph Barker stood strong in goal.

In the second half, the pace of Yoward, Holly Benson and Vicky Wrigley was a constant threat to the visiting defence.

Player-of-the-match Kiera Woods linked up well with Wendy Watson and, in the final five minutes, Chloe Williams scored from close range.
