YORK Acorn have been drawn against Betfred League 1 side Rochdale Hornets in round three of the Coral Challenge Cup.

The tie will take place on Sunday, February 9 with a 3pm kick-off time at the Crown Oil Arena.

The match will see Acorn take on a professional outfit in a competitive match for the first time since 2016, when they were beaten 66-0 by York City Knights at Bootham Crescent at the round three stage back in 2016.

It's only the second time since 2012 that Acorn have faced a side from rugby league's three professional leagues.

Acorn progressed to this stage in the competition after securing two home victories over Hammersmith Hills Hoist, who they beat 36-14, and Barrow Island, who they defeated 34-14.

The Hornets meanwhile enter the competition at round three along with the other 10 clubs in League 1.

Rochdale were relegated from the Championship last year after winning one and losing 26 of their 27 league matches.

As with the previous two rounds, one third round tie will be selected for live streaming by BBC Sport, and another by the RFL’s Our League app.

Tickets for the game are priced at £15 for adults, £12 for concessions, £5 for under 16’sand kids under 5 can enter for free.
