YORK boxer Michael Fafera has set a new date for his next professional fight.

The light heavyweight, who has six wins from as many fights in the pro ranks, will be back in the ring at the Elland Road Pavilion Suite in Leeds on Friday, March 6.

The bout will be Fafera's first contest of 2020 after earning four wins last year, all of which came via points decisions.

Fafera's trainer, Stephen Melton, had suggested prior to his most recent victory over Raimonds Sniedze that the 25-year-old will be moving on to six-round contest this year, having only fought in four-round bouts thus far in his professional career, though this hasn't been confirmed as of yet.

The nine-bout card, hosted by Fafera's manager Mark Bateson of Bateson Promotions and Camp Detox, also features fellow unbeaten Yorkshire prospects Cory O'Regan, Ismail Khan, Ishmael Davis, Mick Learmonth, Justin Newell, James McCann, Kyle Scully and Luke Kelly.

The event's doors open at 5:30pm, with the boxing commencing at 7pm.

l Elsewhere, welterweight boxer Hughie Wilson is set to make his professional debut on Friday, April 3.

Wilson is one of three professional fighters trained by York's former three-time world title challenger Henry Wharton at his gym in Acomb.

The 19-year-old had been planning to make his first outing in the paid ranks last month but had to put those plans on hold due to requiring clearance from the British Boxing Board of Control.

The card also features Jack Bateson, Danny Evans, Adil Anwar, Sean Hare, Aiden Anderson, Hamed Ghaz, Harry Fryer and Tom Young.

Doors open at 5:30pm, with the boxing beginning at 7pm.
