FLYNN McNaughton and Danny Earl each scored twice as Pickering Town beat Dunston 4-1 in BetVictor Northern Premier League north/west division.

Former York City junior McNaughton opened the scoring for the Pikes at Mill Lane on 27 minutes, although they were level at the break after Luke Page responded for Dunston on 35 minutes.

Earl scored twice in three minutes – on 48 and 51 - after the interval to put the hosts back in control, and McNaughton added his second on 61 minutes.

Jackson Jowett was sent off for a second bookable offence on 71 minutes.

The win moved bottom side Pickering level on points with second-from-bottom Dunston.

There was no game for Tadcaster Albion in the north/west division.

Former York City defender Darren Kelly enjoyed a winning start to life as Scarborough Athletic manager as they beat Whitby Town 2-1 in the premier division.

James Walshaw netted the opener on 31 minutes and Connor Thomson made it two three minutes after the break. Connor Bell scored for Whitby with 15 minutes left.

Meanwhile, Selby Town's game at Parkgate in Toolstation Northern Counties East League division one was postponed due to a problem with the showers at the home side's ground.

The Robins, who are next in action at home to North Ferriby on Saturday, have slipped to seventh in the table due to a run of postponements, but they have games in hand on every other side in the division.
