YORK City Knights have announced a major coup with the season-long loan of Hull Kingston Rovers centre Jimmy Keinhorst.

The 29-year-old has a wealth of Super League experience, having made 131 top flight appearances to date.

Keinhorst started his career at Leeds Rhinos in 2012, and won all three major trophies during 93 games - scoring 32 tries.

He made the switch to Hull KR ahead of the 2019 season and featured 28 times for the Robins last term, scoring 7 tries.

Keinhorst will take up the previously vacant number three shirt at York for the 2020 season, thanks to the help of club's Squadbuilder scheme.

Knights head coach James Ford said: “I’d like to applaud the efforts of the supporters, sponsors and specifically Squadbuilder for facilitating this acquisition.

"All contributions are used towards building a better club for the future and I’m delighted to be a part of such positivity.

“Jimmy will bring strike and threat to our edges, added experience and intelligence to our preparation.

"I’ve spoken to a number of people regarding Jimmy’s attitude and approach and I’m very confident he’ll further enhance our culture.

“I’m extremely proud of the support we’re receiving from the club in terms of positive cultural shifts, retainment of our best players and attracting players who can help this club continue to grow.”

“I’m excited to work with Jimmy, and I’m looking forward to seeing him raise our standards and get him playing his best rugby.”

The 23 players that currently make up the Knights 2020 squad are: Joe Porter, Sam Scott, Jack Teanby, Jason Bass, Connor Robinson, Kriss Brining, Matty Marsh, Perry Whiteley, Ronan Dixon, Will Jubb, Jordan Baldwinson, Brad Hey, Liam Salter, Marcus Stock, Tim Spears, Josh Jordan-Roberts, Danny Washbrook, Chris Clarkson, James Green, Ben Johnston, Will Sharp, Elliot Wallis and Jimmy Keinhorst.
