York took the lead when Neston conceded a penalty corner and Mike Carter stepped up with a drag-flick that put the ball high and wide through the visitors’ defence. A brave display by Jonathan Doyle helped his defence keep the visitors out, until a fine open-play goal on the volley.
A well-struck shot from the left of Neston’s 'D' by Peter Fitton earned the three points that moved City off the bottom of the premier division.
