NEW Earswick Ospreys beat Selby ‘B’ 80-76 with Selby taking 10 points to the Ospreys’ four.

At home D Furness, P Waddington, V Thompson and D Osguthorpe won 27-9, while P Whitehead, D Counter, A Anderson and B Barrett won 28-6. Away, G Johnson, D Crane, D Carr and J Taylor lost 23-13. G Fratson, I Carr, V Reed and C Ellis lost 33-12.

The Eagles beat York Romans 95-73 (12-2). J Barker, S Scaife, R Walker and A Shearer lost 23-20, while J Palfrey, P Waddington, B Harrison and G Stockton won 29-8. P Lee, J Cocker, D Hutchinson and N Steels won 22-21, and D Toms, T McGlennon, M Reeson and B Shipley won 24-21.

New Earswick ‘A’ lost 99-70 (14-0) to North Cave in the Yorkshire League.

J Harrison, B Nuckey, M Head and C Pickup lost 19-17, while A Humphreys, D Clayden, A Fothergill and K Liddell lost 25-16. Away, D Furness, B Elliot, G Jones and P Dawson lost 20-19, and D Imeson, B Birch, B Waldie and R Tiplady lost 35-18.

New Earswick ‘C’ lost 75-70 (10-4) to Leeds in the Yorkshire League.

D Jeffries, P Webster, D Chapman and A Shearer won 17-13, while T Robinson, M Brown, M Warriner and A Nicholson won 25-11. At Leeds, P Lee, R Cann, D Hutchinson and N Steels lost 28-14, and D Toms, J Cocker, B Shipley and G Stockton lost 23-14.

New Earswick Ladies lost 64-56 (6-4) to Thornaby in the Yorkshire Ladies.

At home, Lynne Clapham, Claire Wright, Margaret Morgan and Jennie Philpott lost 25-7, while Anne Barnard, Moira Ellis, Margaret Pearson and Marjorie Watson won 18-15.

At Thornaby, Carole Thompson, Christine Pickup, Jackie Toms and Norma Davies won 25-6, and Jean Cann, Shirley Hallgate, Lesley Nuckey and Sally Domville lost 18-6.

YORK Indoor Bowls Club ‘A’ exited the Mason Trophy after losing 35-32 to Gedling on aggregate after dropping seven on the last end.

At home, Dot Kennelly, Pat Walker, Melanie Brooke and Linda Harrison played well but were beaten. Away, Joan Jackson, Carol Banks, Sheila Turpin and Carol Instone put in an excellent performance and went into the last end 17-10 ahead. They needed one shot to level the aggregate, but the home side picked up four shots.

York ‘B’ maintained their unbeaten start to the season as they beat North Cave ‘B’ 80-68, picking up 10 points thanks to two winning rinks. At home, John Jennison, Harley Wenham, Jack Woodworth and Dave Dale raced into a 16-1 lead after nine ends and finished 29-9.

Bill Flavell, Paul Craven, Geoff Walker and Pete Bradley lost 22-15.

Away, Ken Griffiths, Alan Hampshire, Malcolm Harrison and Graham Instone had a well-deserved 18-15 victory. Ken Simpson, Pete Riley, Gordon Fennell, and Mal Bulmer lost 22-18.

In division three, York ‘C’ won two rinks and drew one but lost 95-72. At home, Colin Robinson, Trevor Scott, John Crowe and Mike Snowden won 19-15, while Alan Braithwaite, Eric Hodgson, Noel Mallen and Dave Clarke led 21-13 with two to play but drew 21-21.

Away, Wally Darbyshire, Mal Rankeillor, David Clough and Tony Bryan had a 23-11 victory.

Andy Lockwood, Ken Robinson, Norman Ellis and Barry Walker struggled in the second half of their game as they lost 48-9.

York ‘D’ were disappointed to lose 105-51 to Selby ‘B’ with only Alan Potter, Gavin Dickenson, Ian Mackland and Dave Berwick winning, 21-15.

York Knights were hopeful against Yorkshire Over-55s League leaders Redcar after the away rinks had only a six shot deficit.

Wally Darbyshire, Norman Ellis, Dave Elcock and Graham Instone trailed 19-13 but came away with a 19-19 draw. Harley Wenham, Alan Braithwaite, David Clough and Geoff Walker lost 23-16. At home, Colin Robinson, Dave Berwick, Barry Walker and Pete Bradley lost 23-17. Ken Robinson, Vic Woolley, Eric Hodgson and Dave Clarke lost 24-14.
